Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has proposed holding a face-to-face meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Türkiye, asking Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to help arrange the talks. Zelenskyy said that some major issues in the conflict could only be settled directly by the two leaders. Meanwhile, the Kremlin said Putin had never refused to meet Zelenskyy, but invited him to travel to Moscow for negotiations. Erdogan, who met Zelenskyy in Istanbul, called for efforts to achieve a just peace and warned that the conflict was increasingly affecting the Black Sea. The proposal comes as trilateral peace talks involving Russia, Ukraine and the United States are expected to resume in Abu Dhabi in early November.
