Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he held a “productive discussion” on Ukraine’s reconstruction and economic recovery with senior U.S. officials, including U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Jared Kushner (former U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law), and BlackRock CEO Larry Fink. The video meeting marked the first of a group set to work on a key document addressing Ukraine’s post-war recovery.
Zelenskyy emphasized that for reconstruction efforts to be successful and for economic growth to be realized after the war, a foundation of real security is necessary. The discussions focused on recovery strategies, mechanisms, and long-term visions for Ukraine’s rebuilding process.
Meanwhile, former President Donald Trump indicated he might reconsider U.S. policy on the conflict, criticizing the ongoing situation. Trump suggested that while letting people “fight it out” could be an option, the high human toll from the war, with thousands dying each week, made the situation “ridiculous” and in need of resolution.
