YUFL Cultural Exchanges 2025: A Celebration of Diversity

On January 13th, the Yangon University of Foreign Languages (YUFL) hosted its much-anticipated Cultural Exchanges 2025, bringing students and visitors together to explore and appreciate diverse cultures. The event aimed to deepen understanding of the languages and traditions represented at the university.

 

The event opened with a speech by Dr. Zaw Myint, Deputy Minister of Education, attended by officials and embassy representatives.

Dr. Kyin Shwin, Rector of YUFL, highlighted that the event aimed to help students connect their language studies with cultural understanding.

The International Food Fair was a highlight, drawing enthusiastic crowds eager to sample dishes from nine countries, including Myanmar. Students from various language majors showcased traditional foods such as French pasta and Korean Tteokbokki, offering a delicious glimpse into global culinary traditions.

Adding to the variety, ethnic students from university shared their unique dishes, including sticky rice from Kayin students and Monte from Rakhine students, highlighting the richness of local culture. Visitors also enjoyed a live demonstration of how to prepare Myanmar’s traditional Mote Lone Yay Paw (floating sticky rice balls).

Traditional dances added vibrant energy to the event, with students performing routines from different countries. Myanmar’s ethnic groups also participated, sharing their colorful and dynamic cultural expressions through dance.

As a university offering 4-year bachelor’s degree programs in languages like Thai, Russian, Korean, Japanese, German, French, English, Myanmar, and Chinese, YUFL fosters not only language learning but also cultural appreciation.

YUFL Cultural Exchanges 2025 was a lively and engaging celebration that left attendees with a deeper appreciation for the world’s diverse cultures.
