The Yangon-Mandalay railway line and Mandalay International Airport have reopened after being closed due to damage from a major earthquake on March 28, according to state media.
The earthquake damaged 60 embankments, 11 railway bridges, and caused track bending along the railway. Myanma Railways conducted urgent repairs and tested the tracks with freight and passenger trains before resuming full passenger services on April 5.
Other railway routes, such as Yangon-Pyay and Yangon-Mawlamyine, remained operational throughout.
Mandalay International Airport resumed domestic flights on April 4. By April 5, four local airlines had completed 13 flights, transporting 972 passengers.
