Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said President Xi Jinping’s September 23–25 state visit to the United States brought new progress in building a constructive China-U.S. relationship based on strategic stability. Wang said Xi and U.S. President Donald Trump held candid discussions in a friendly atmosphere and agreed that their relationship should be based on respect, fairness and reciprocity, while handling differences through dialogue and cooperation.
The two sides also discussed economic and trade relations, law enforcement, people-to-people exchanges and artificial intelligence. Xi announced plans to invite 100,000 young Americans to visit China over the next five years, while two pandas, Ping Ping and Fu Shuang, are expected to arrive at Zoo Atlanta. On international issues, the two leaders discussed regional conflicts, AI governance and global security, and agreed to strengthen coordination on issues of common concern.
