Chinese President Xi Jinping’s special envoy, Gao Zhidan, attended the opening ceremony of the fourth Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal, on Saturday. Gao, who is also director of China’s General Administration of Sport, met with Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye before the ceremony.
Gao conveyed Xi’s greetings and said China was ready to strengthen its comprehensive strategic partnership with Senegal and deepen cooperation with Africa. Faye thanked China for its continued support for Senegal’s economic and social development, as well as for hosting the Games. He also described China as one of Senegal’s most important partners.
