An article by Xi Jinping on promoting the high-quality development of the marine economy will be published Monday in the sixth issue of Qiushi Journal.
Xi emphasized efficient use of marine resources, advancing modernization, and forging a Chinese path for marine economic strength. The article calls for breakthroughs in marine science and technology, upgrading traditional industries, developing emerging sectors, and balancing resource development with environmental protection.
It also stresses global ocean governance, peaceful use of marine energy, and safeguarding China’s maritime rights. Six priorities are outlined: top-level design and policy support, innovation in marine science and tech, scaling up marine industries, planning for major bays, enhancing ecological protection, and participating in global ocean governance.
