Xi Jinping visited the Xiongan New Area in Hebei, calling for it to become an innovation hub and a model of high-quality development. He emphasized its role as the main recipient of functions relieved from Beijing that are non-essential to the capital’s core responsibilities. Xi stressed boosting development through reform and innovation, concentrating resources effectively, and cultivating clusters of emerging and future industries.
During the visit, he inspected China Huaneng Group, which relocated over 1,000 employees to Xiongan, and engaged with staff to learn about industrial layouts and innovation efforts. He also visited the Xiongan campus of Beijing No. 4 High School, checking teaching conditions and the school’s facilities.
At a symposium, Xi highlighted the progress made in the area’s construction and urged the orderly relocation of state-owned enterprises, universities, and hospitals. He called for systematic planning, integration of high-quality development with efficient governance, improved public services, and exploration of smart city management. Xi also stressed building a modern industrial system, advancing science parks, implementing innovative policies, and strengthening Party leadership. Premier Li Qiang, Cai Qi, and Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang accompanied him.
