In a signed article published in the DPRK’s official newspaper ahead of his two-day state visit, Chinese President Xi Jinping declared that China-DPRK relations face new opportunities and missions at a historical starting point. Affirming that consolidating these ties remains an unwavering policy for China, Xi called for deeper strategic communication and close high-level exchanges. He highlighted the 65th anniversary of the China-DPRK Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance as an opportunity to strengthen party, government, and military institutions while implementing previous bilateral consensuses.
Xi also emphasized mutual learning in state governance, supporting each nation’s unique socialist path and firmly safeguarding their political security. He urged both sides to expand practical cooperation, align development strategies, and share growth opportunities to enhance the well-being of their peoples. Finally, Xi stressed the importance of close multilateral coordination to uphold the United Nations-centered international system, oppose hegemonism and power politics, reject actions undermining regional stability, and work together toward building a community with a shared future for humanity.
