Xi says China and Russia have found right way for neighboring major countries to get along

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin met in Kazan during the 16th BRICS Summit on October 22, 2024. Xi highlighted the strong, non-confrontational partnership between China and Russia, marking 75 years of diplomatic relations. He praised their cooperation in trade, large-scale projects, and alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative with the Eurasian Economic Union, despite global challenges.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of strategic coordination in multilateral frameworks like the UN and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, aiming to uphold international fairness and justice. Putin reiterated Russia’s commitment to deepening ties with China and commemorating their shared history in World War II, as well as enhancing BRICS cooperation.
