Chinese President Xi Jinping has emphasized the importance of high-level sci-tech self-reliance to support high-quality development during the National Engineer Awards ceremony. Xi congratulated the awardees and highlighted the crucial role engineers play in advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. He urged engineers and technicians to make breakthroughs in core technologies, undertake high-quality projects, and contribute to China’s self-reliance and strength in science and technology. The event recognized 81 individuals and 50 teams for their outstanding contributions to engineering technology. The development of engineering science and technology in China, according to officials, follows Party leadership, benefits the people, mobilizes resources nationwide, prioritizes talent, emphasizes self-reliance and independent innovation, and involves opening up and cooperation.
