Chinese President and CPC General Secretary Xi Jinping has called for advancing the development of “industries of the future” by leveraging China’s comparative advantages, pursuing progress while maintaining stability, and promoting continuous innovation. Speaking at a CPC Political Bureau study session on January 30, Xi emphasized that cultivating these industries is vital for gaining a competitive edge in science and technology, building a modern industrial system, and improving living standards.
Xi stressed that future industries require foresight, strategic planning, and coordination between emerging, traditional, and future sectors. He highlighted the importance of breakthroughs in core technologies, strengthening basic research, accelerating the commercialization of scientific achievements, and fostering high-tech enterprises. He also called for supportive fiscal and tax policies, talent development, a society-wide innovation culture, risk-aware regulation, and enhanced international cooperation to jointly advance industrial standards and coordinated development.
