Chinese President and CPC General Secretary Xi Jinping called for advancing full and rigorous Party self-governance with higher standards and more concrete measures while addressing the fifth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection in Beijing. He stressed the need to confine power within institutional frameworks, maintain a tough and unwavering anti-corruption stance, and ensure strict equality before laws and regulations with no privileges or exceptions. Xi noted that notable progress was made in 2025 in improving Party conduct and combating corruption, but warned that the situation remains grave and complex, requiring sustained efforts to eliminate the conditions that breed corruption. He urged innovation in anti-corruption methods, stronger coordination among oversight bodies, and the building of a loyal and capable disciplinary inspection force, emphasizing that the anti-corruption fight is a critical struggle the Party must never lose, and that these efforts are essential to achieving the goals of the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–2030).
