Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Beijing, emphasizing the importance of further cooperation and opening up in their comprehensive strategic partnership. Xi highlighted win-win cooperation and cultural exchanges as crucial elements in China-Greece relations, expressing hope for collaboration in areas like transportation, shipping, energy, communications, and green and digital economy. He encouraged Chinese investment in Greece, welcomed Greek participation in cooperation with Central and Eastern European countries, and supported the exchange of high-quality Greek products in the Chinese market.
China also pledged support for people-to-people and cultural exchange mechanisms, and expressed interest in deepening cooperation in education, culture, scientific research, tourism, and youth. Xi emphasized the significance of China-EU relations, calling for independence, mutual respect, and mutually beneficial cooperation. He expressed readiness to work with the EU to activate cooperation in various fields. Mitsotakis praised the strong development momentum in Greece-China relations since Xi’s visit in 2019, emphasizing the success of economic cooperation. Greece aims to enhance Belt and Road cooperation, expand collaboration in shipbuilding, shipping, and clean energy, and welcome more Chinese tourists. Mitsotakis affirmed Greece’s commitment to the one-China policy, praised China’s fair stance on global and regional affairs, and expressed willingness to closely cooperate with China on multilateral occasions. He also emphasized Greece’s readiness to serve as a bridge for EU-China cooperation and promote balanced international relations.
