Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Mozambican Prime Minister Maria Benvinda Delfina Levi in Beijing during the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women.
Xi praised the 50 years of diplomatic relations between China and Mozambique, calling their friendship “rock solid.” He pledged to deepen strategic coordination and cooperation across areas like energy, mining, and infrastructure, and to strengthen political, cultural, and governance exchanges. Xi also emphasized support for Mozambique’s independent development path and proposed faster progress on the Mozambique-China Cultural Center to boost people-to-people ties.
He reaffirmed China’s commitment to working with Mozambique on the Global Governance Initiative, opposing unilateralism, and protecting the interests of both nations and the Global South.
Prime Minister Levi called Xi’s speech on women’s development “profound,” reaffirmed Mozambique’s support for the one-China principle, and expressed readiness to expand cooperation in trade, energy, science, technology, and education. She also endorsed China’s four global initiatives and voiced support for closer multilateral collaboration to build a fairer global system.
