Chinese President Xi Jinping has congratulated To Lam on his election as general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam. In his message, Xi praised Vietnam’s achievements in socialist development and said the recent CPV National Congress marked a new stage in the country’s growth. He stressed the close ties between China and Vietnam as friendly socialist neighbors and said China is ready to work with Vietnam’s new leadership to strengthen strategic cooperation and build a shared future that benefits both countries and the region.
