China’s Communist Party leadership held a high-level meeting chaired by President Xi Jinping to review work reports from major state and Party institutions, including the government, legislature, advisory body, courts, and the Party Secretariat.
The meeting stressed that China faces complex and challenging conditions over the next five years and highlighted the Party’s leadership as the key guarantee for advancing Chinese modernization. Officials praised the institutions for supporting the CPC Central Committee’s authority and making progress across different sectors in the past year.
Looking ahead to 2026 — the Party’s 105th anniversary and the start of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) — the leadership urged all bodies to focus on major economic and social development goals, work for the people’s interests, and strengthen strict Party self-governance.
The Secretariat was instructed to improve Party regulations, reduce unnecessary bureaucracy, and ensure high-quality completion of all tasks.
