The World Organization for Science Literacy was officially launched in Beijing on Sunday during the opening of the 2026 World Conference on Science Literacy. The organization was created with support from the China Association for Science and Technology and was registered in Beijing in June 2026.
It currently has 32 founding member organizations from 21 countries across Asia, Europe, South America, Africa and Oceania. The group plans to promote international scientific cooperation, encourage innovation and strengthen communication between science, technology and society.
It also aims to improve public understanding of science and help support the development of a more technology-driven and intelligent society.
