Morocco held Brazil to a 1-1 draw in a lively Group C opener at MetLife Stadium, with the North Africans largely controlling the match and exposing defensive issues in the five-time world champions.
Ismael Saibari gave Morocco a deserved lead in the 21st minute after sustained pressure, before Vinicius Jr. produced a moment of individual brilliance to level the score for Brazil in the 32nd minute. Morocco continued to look dangerous throughout, with goalkeeper Yassine Bounou making key saves to keep the game level.
Despite improved second-half pressure from Brazil, clear chances were limited, and the match ended in a draw, with coach Carlo Ancelotti admitting his side struggled early and lost control of key duels.
