On Thursday, workers at the Hôtel du Collectionneur in Paris, where IOC members are staying for the Olympics, went on strike. The hotel, rented exclusively by the IOC for €22 million, was the site of the strike that occurred just before the Games’ opening ceremony. The striking staff, represented by the CGT union, protested against lack of wage increases and missing social benefits, including the December bonus known as the “13th month.” Despite having received a €9.5 million dividend this year, the hotel has not improved staff compensation. Additionally, around 200 performers protested along the Seine River, voicing concerns about working conditions and inequality in treatment for the Games’ opening ceremony.
