On January 23, 2025, Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Dadong Grocery Market in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, to inspect food supplies before the Spring Festival. During the visit, children gave him candy, and he thanked them, saying he hoped their lives would be as sweet as the candy. The visit highlighted his focus on people’s daily needs and his tradition of meeting local residents before the holiday. Officials say these annual visits show his emphasis on public welfare and direct engagement with citizens.
