Wang Yi urges Britain to adopt positive, pragmatic China policy

China’s top diplomat Wang Yi urged Britain to adopt a positive and pragmatic China policy during a meeting with Jonathan Powell, the British prime minister’s national security adviser. Wang emphasized maintaining strategic communication, building mutual trust, addressing issues directly, and keeping cooperation central to bilateral relations. He also highlighted China’s stance on Japan-related issues and reaffirmed the one-China principle.

Powell stated that Britain’s Labour government seeks a long-term, strategic relationship with China and aims to strengthen regular dialogues at all levels. The two sides also discussed the Ukraine crisis and other international issues.
