Wang Yi meets foreign guests from Caribbean countries

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with foreign ministers and representatives from Caribbean nations in Beijing on Monday during the fourth China-CELAC Forum ministerial meeting.

Representatives came from Caribbean countries with diplomatic ties to China, including Antigua and Barbuda, the Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Marking the forum’s 10th anniversary, Wang highlighted that China-Caribbean cooperation has grown rapidly over the past decade. He noted major progress in trade, infrastructure, and cultural exchange, saying the partnership has brought mutual success and boosted the voice of the Global South.

Wang called for stronger political trust and deeper collaboration through initiatives like the Belt and Road. He also pledged more scholarships, training programs, and climate support for Caribbean nations.

Caribbean leaders thanked China for its continued support in key areas such as infrastructure, which they say has improved livelihoods and economic stability. They reaffirmed their support for the one-China policy and expressed hopes for even closer ties through the China-CELAC Forum.
