China and Brunei agreed to deepen cooperation during a meeting in Beijing between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Brunei’s Second Foreign Minister Erywan Yusof. China said it is ready to strengthen high-level exchanges, strategic communication, and multilateral cooperation, and reaffirmed support for ASEAN as a key partner.
Wang praised Brunei’s long-term commitment to the one-China principle, while Brunei said it wants to expand cooperation in areas like manufacturing, agriculture, fisheries, and cultural exchange as the two countries mark 35 years of diplomatic ties next year.
Both sides agreed to work together to maintain peace in the South China Sea, speed up the Code of Conduct negotiations, and support a genuine ceasefire and a two-state solution in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
