“Voices from the Paukphaw Heart” Book Launch Celebrates 75 Years of China-Myanmar Relationship

A special ceremony was held in Yangon on June 18 to launch the book “Voices from the Paukphaw Heart: A Collection of Stories Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of China-Myanmar Diplomatic Relations.” This event marked the 75th anniversary of the official diplomatic ties between China and Myanmar.

The ceremony was organized by the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar and attended by many important guests, including Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms. Ma Jia, Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, officials, award-winning writers, and nearly 300 others.

The book is divided into five chapters, each focusing on different parts of the China-Myanmar relationship. The first chapter shares stories of compassion and support after the March 28 earthquake. The second chapter tells about goodwill visits between past leaders of the two countries, showing their long friendship. The third chapter highlights the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor and new trade partnerships. The fourth chapter covers cultural and social exchanges, especially in literature and the arts. The final chapter shows how the friendship between the people of both nations continues to grow today.

Ambassador Ms. Ma Jia spoke about the long history of friendship between China and Myanmar, which stretches back over 2,000 years. She said the book collects many touching stories that show the close bond between the two peoples. She hopes young people will read these stories and become ambassadors of this friendship, carrying it forward to future generations. She also encouraged both countries to keep working together and create a brighter future.

Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn noted that literature is an important part of cultural exchange and helps deepen understanding between nations. He praised the ongoing cooperation in bilingual literature and translation between China and Myanmar and expressed hope this would continue.

During the event, 19 awards were given for outstanding stories featured in the book, including one first prize and several second and third prizes.
