Brazil, as the current BRICS Chair, announced on Friday that Vietnam has officially joined BRICS as a partner country. The Brazilian government welcomed the move, praising Vietnam’s commitment to building a more inclusive and representative global order. With its large population and globally connected economy, Vietnam is seen as a key player in Asia. The country also aligns with BRICS goals in promoting South-South cooperation and sustainable development. Vietnam is now the tenth BRICS partner country, joining nations like Cuba, Nigeria, and Thailand—a category created at the 16th BRICS Summit in October 2024.
