Acting President Delcy Rodriguez reaffirmed Venezuela’s sovereignty on Monday, firmly rejecting any possibility of the nation becoming a U.S. state. Speaking at a press conference in The Hague, where she attended proceedings at the International Court of Justice, Rodriguez emphasized that Venezuelans maintain a deep commitment to their independence and have no intention of becoming a colony.
Despite the firm stance on sovereignty, Rodriguez noted that President Donald Trump is aware of Venezuela’s ongoing efforts toward a diplomatic agenda of cooperation. She maintained that diplomacy remains the primary path forward for bilateral relations. Rodriguez concluded by stating that the nation will continue to defend its integrity and history, honoring those who fought to ensure Venezuela remains a free and independent country.
