US forces launched a second consecutive day of strikes against Iran, escalating tensions in the Gulf as explosions were reported in several Iranian locations, including Bandar Abbas, Chabahar and Bushehr. The US Central Command said the attacks aimed to weaken Iran’s ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran condemned the strikes as violations of international law and warned of a possible large-scale response against US bases in the region. Tehran also accused Washington of undermining a previous agreement between the two sides.
The renewed confrontation has raised global concerns, with the United Nations calling for immediate de-escalation and a return to diplomacy. The crisis has also disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, causing oil prices to rise and increasing fears of further impacts on global energy markets.
