Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of upholding openness to foster Asia-Pacific development during the 30th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in San Francisco. Xi called for the establishment of an open, dynamic, resilient, and peaceful Asia-Pacific community, emphasizing the need for regional economic integration, the acceleration of the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific, and the implementation of the APEC Connectivity Blueprint. He urged APEC members to support the multilateral trading system centered on the World Trade Organization, maintain free and open trade, and ensure the stability of global industrial and supply chains. Xi highlighted China’s commitment to supporting APEC’s economic and technical cooperation and pledged to work collaboratively for the region’s development. He also reiterated opposition to politicizing economic and trade issues and pledged China’s continued support for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Agreement. The Asia Economic Integration Report 2023 revealed China’s significant contributions to the region’s economic growth, trade, and services. Xi expressed readiness to collaborate for further success in Asia-Pacific cooperation.
