The 25th China-European Union Summit, set to take place in Beijing on Thursday, aims to enhance strategic communication and deepen cooperation between China and the EU. The Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized the summit’s importance amid global challenges such as rising protectionism and international instability.
European Council President Antonio Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen will attend the summit, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of China-EU diplomatic ties and the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun highlighted the growth of China-EU relations into one of the world’s most influential partnerships, benefiting nearly two billion people and contributing to global peace and development.
With China-EU ties at a critical juncture, Guo said China hopes the summit will mark a new chapter, reinforcing shared commitments to multilateralism, openness, and cooperation.
