The United Nations (UN) released a final report from its AI advisory body, titled “Governing AI for Humanity,” proposing seven key recommendations to address AI-related risks and governance gaps. The report emphasizes aligning AI development with human rights, ethics, and sustainable development. It calls for a global governance system involving governments, private companies, civil society, and international bodies to ensure inclusivity, transparency, and accountability.
Key recommendations include international cooperation on AI standards, addressing concerns like bias, privacy, and job displacement. The report also proposes an AI standards exchange, a global AI capacity-building network, a global AI fund to bridge collaboration gaps, and a global data framework for transparency. It suggests creating a small AI office to coordinate these efforts. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres highlighted the importance of these proposals in advancing AI governance for the common good.
