UN Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Cong Guang as the new special envoy for the Horn of Africa, succeeding Hanna Serwaa Tetteh. Cong brings over 23 years of experience in UN peace operations, much of it focused on the Horn of Africa. He currently serves as deputy special representative for South Sudan. Before joining the UN in 2002, Cong held a distinguished role in China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
