Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced the conclusion of “productive and focused” talks between U.S. and Ukrainian delegations in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Sunday. Key discussion points included energy and efforts toward securing a “just and lasting peace” for Ukraine and Europe.
The Ukrainian delegation, led by Umerov, included senior officials from Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry and President’s Office. The meeting followed a prior U.S.-Ukraine discussion in Jeddah, where Ukraine agreed to a 30-day ceasefire proposal in exchange for resumed U.S. military aid and intelligence sharing.
Notably, the talks took place ahead of scheduled U.S.-Russia discussions in Riyadh, with a Russian delegation already in the city. The meeting highlights ongoing diplomatic efforts amid the Ukraine conflict.
