Tsinghua University’s team Hephaestus won the adult-size final at the RoboCup Humanoid League in Brazil, defeating China Agricultural University’s Mountain & Sea team 5–3. This marks the first time a Chinese team has claimed the title in the 28-year history of the tournament.
Chinese teams dominated the competition from the group stage, with Tsinghua’s T1 humanoid robots achieving massive victories, including a 16–0 win over the U.S. team UT Austin Villa. Other Chinese teams also performed strongly—Tsinghua’s TH-MOS placed second in the kid-size category.
China-made humanoid robots like the T1 and K1 were widely used by both Chinese and international teams, including Germany’s kid-size champions Boosted HTWK, highlighting China’s growing global influence in robotics. Experts credited the success to advanced visual positioning, navigation, and decision-making technologies. Booster Robotics, the official hardware supplier, noted this as a milestone for Chinese robotics on the global stage.
