Turkey and Iran have called for easing tensions in Syria after recent clashes between government forces and rebels in the northwest. In Ankara, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized the need for compromise and offered Turkey’s support for dialogue between Syrian factions. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi echoed this sentiment, affirming Iran’s commitment to avoiding further conflict.
Both countries pledged to uphold Syria’s territorial integrity and continue cooperation within the Astana format talks, alongside Russia, to promote peace in the region. Despite their differing alliances during Syria’s civil war, Turkey and Iran are intensifying diplomatic efforts to address the escalating violence.
