Trump, Zelenskyy cancel minerals deal signing after heated spat

A scheduled press conference at the White House between U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was canceled following a heated argument in the Oval Office. The confrontation, which was broadcast on TV, began when U.S. Vice President JD Vance told Zelenskyy he should be grateful for Trump’s efforts to resolve Ukraine’s conflict with Russia. Zelenskyy pushed back, warning that the U.S. would eventually feel the consequences of the war. Trump dismissed Zelenskyy’s stance, accusing him of gambling with millions of lives and World War III.

Afterward, Trump claimed Zelenskyy did not seem like a leader seeking peace, while Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the American people and emphasized that U.S.-Ukraine relations extend beyond just the two presidents. In a Fox News interview, he stressed the importance of U.S. support in Ukraine’s fight against Russia. Despite the tensions, Zelenskyy is set to attend a summit in London hosted by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer alongside other European leaders.
