U.S. President Donald Trump said Tuesday he has directed special envoy Steve Witkoff to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow to push forward a revised U.S.-drafted peace plan for Ukraine, which Kyiv has largely accepted. U.S. Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll is also holding parallel talks with Ukrainian and Russian officials.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the proposal could lead to deeper agreements, while his chief of staff noted that most points have been agreed, though territorial issues remain for direct talks with Trump.
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France and the U.K., with U.S. participation, will coordinate security guarantees for Ukraine once a ceasefire is reached, and said France could consider contributing troops as part of a post-ceasefire reassurance mission.
