U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Friday the immediate termination of all trade talks with Canada in response to Canada’s new digital services tax on American tech companies, calling it a “blatant attack” on the U.S. He stated that tariffs on Canadian businesses would be announced within seven days. Trump criticized Canada for following the European Union’s example and imposing such a tax. This move comes as the U.S. rushes to conclude trade negotiations with multiple partners ahead of a July 9 deadline, though the White House indicated Trump may extend it.
