US President Donald Trump said the US and Iran are in the “final stages” of peace talks, adding that Washington is willing to wait a few more days for a response from Tehran. Trump warned that if no agreement is reached, the US could take “nasty” actions, though he said he hopes that will not happen. He also ruled out a limited agreement focused only on reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran said talks are continuing through Pakistani mediation, with officials reviewing the latest US proposals. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Tehran is seeking guarantees for lasting security in the Strait of Hormuz and wants progress on issues including frozen Iranian assets and sanctions-related disputes.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran has honored its commitments and warned that attempts to force Tehran into surrender would fail. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi also warned against a return to conflict.
Meanwhile, Israel’s military said it remains on its “highest level of alert.” Israeli military chief Eyal Zamir said the country is strengthening forces across multiple fronts amid ongoing regional tensions.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a major focus. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard said 26 ships passed safely through the waterway in the past 24 hours under its coordination, while the US military said it boarded and searched an Iranian-flagged oil tanker in the Gulf of Oman before redirecting it. South Korea also confirmed that one of its oil tankers safely passed through the strait.
