Former U.S. President Donald Trump stated Friday he was never told his name appeared in files linked to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, despite a report from The Wall Street Journal claiming Attorney General Pam Bondi briefed him on this in May.
“No, I was never — never briefed, no,” Trump said. The Journal’s report suggested Bondi also told Trump that many other prominent figures were named and that the Justice Department didn’t plan to release more documents.
This denial comes as new information continues to surface about Trump’s past connections with Epstein. Trump’s name has been found in Epstein’s flight logs from the 1990s and in a contact book, alongside many others. These details were largely made public during the trial of Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein’s former associate. Trump has consistently denied wrongdoing and claims his friendship with Epstein ended before the sex offender’s legal troubles began.
The Justice Department recently stated it found no basis to continue investigating the Epstein case, a decision that has sparked anger among some of Trump’s supporters who demand more information on individuals connected to Epstein.
