In a Fox News interview, U.S. President Donald Trump announced he has found a buyer—a group of “very wealthy people”—for TikTok and plans to reveal their identities in about two weeks. He said the deal would likely need China’s approval, which he believes will be granted. Despite a U.S. law requiring ByteDance to sell TikTok’s U.S. assets or shut down the app by January 19, Trump has extended the deadline three times, most recently to September 17. A previous sale deal was stalled due to China’s opposition after Trump imposed tariffs on Chinese goods. Trump credited TikTok with helping him gain support from young voters in the last election.
