Former U.S. President Donald Trump called for capping foreign student enrollment at Harvard University to around 15%, down from the current 27–31%, claiming many were “troublemakers” influenced by the radical left. He demanded Harvard release a list of its foreign students and warned universities to change policies or face funding cuts. His administration also targeted diversity programs and pushed for the elimination of antisemitism on campuses. Amid these pressures, Harvard is facing frozen federal funding, threats to its tax-exempt status, and ongoing investigations. The Department of Homeland Security revoked its eligibility for the Student and Exchange Visitor Program, prompting Harvard to sue the federal government. A court hearing on the issue is set for May 29.
