Trump formally ordered to pay $454 million in New York fraud case

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has been ordered by a New York judge to pay $454.2 million in a civil fraud case brought by the state’s attorney general. The payment includes a $354.9 million penalty ordered on February 16, plus interest, following a non-jury trial. Trump’s adult sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, were also ordered to pay nearly $4.7 million each, and the Trump Organization’s former CFO, Allen Weisselberg, was ordered to pay $1.1 million. The total payouts, including interest, amount to $464.6 million. The judge also imposed a three-year ban on Trump from serving in top roles at New York companies and seeking loans from state-registered banks. The case alleges Trump manipulated his net worth to obtain favorable loan and insurance terms. Trump plans to appeal while facing four unrelated criminal prosecutions.
