Top political advisor calls for contribution to China’s modernization in rural, urban areas

During a meeting of the Chairpersons Council, China’s top political advisor Wang Huning urged members of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) to contribute ideas toward modernizing agriculture, rural areas, and urban development. Wang, who serves as chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, emphasized aligning political advisory work with the CPC Central Committee’s economic plans to help sustain economic performance. He also encouraged advisors to focus on national central tasks and leverage organizations like the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese to rally overseas support. Additionally, the meeting successfully deliberated and adopted the CPPCC National Committee’s work report for the first half of 2026, setting the stage for the upcoming 18th session of the Standing Committee in late August.
