On September 18, central Tokyo experienced its latest “extremely hot day” in recorded history, with temperatures exceeding 35 degrees Celsius, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). The Chiyoda Ward observation center recorded 35.1°C just before noon, surpassing the previous record set on September 12, 1942. Additionally, Nagoya saw a similar record-breaking day, reaching 36.4°C in the afternoon. These high temperatures are part of a heatwave impacting Japan this September.
