While Downdetector recorded a peak of over 36,000 outage reports, the newly formed TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC attributed the glitches to a power outage at a U.S. data center rather than the transition itself. The disruptions coincided with the finalization of a majority U.S.-owned joint venture involving Oracle, Silver Lake, and MGX, a move designed to comply with federal divestment laws. Despite official claims of an infrastructure failure, the timing has fueled user speculation regarding backend adjustments and the retraining of algorithms on domestic data.
