The 2026 Breakthrough Prize winners have been announced, with three young Chinese mathematicians gaining global recognition for their achievements.
Wang Hong and Tang Yunqing received the New Horizons in Mathematics Prize, while Zhang Mingjia was awarded the Maryam Mirzakhani New Frontiers Prize, which honors outstanding early-career women in the field.
Wang was recognized for her work in harmonic analysis and is seen as a potential contender for the Fields Medal, while Tang made progress on a longstanding number theory problem. Zhang, a rising young scholar, was honored for her contributions to number theory and algebraic geometry.
