On November 17, the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar held the Symposium of the Global Governance Initiative and the Fourth Quarter China-Myanmar Media Tea Party in Yangon. The event brought together about 160 guests, including Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia and Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, along with representatives from over 30 media outlets, think tanks, and scholars of China and Myanmar. It was presided over by Minister Counselor Zheng Zhihong.
Ma Jia introduced the five core concepts of the Global Governance Initiative, expounded on the guidelines of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, and called on China and Myanmar to jointly implement the initiative, promoting the building of a fairer and more equitable global governance system.
U Maung Maung Ohn stated that Myanmar welcomes and supports the Global Governance Initiative. He expressed gratitude to China for providing assistance to Myanmar, urging all countries to treat each other equally and jointly safeguard world peace and tranquility.
Attendees engaged in in-depth discussions on issues such as facilitating the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, showcasing the significance of the initiative for the Global South, giving full play to the role of media and youth, and strengthening cooperation between China and Myanmar.
