Thailand’s acting Prime Minister, Phumtham Wechayachai, will lead a delegation to Malaysia on Monday for discussions regarding the ongoing border issue with Cambodia.
Government spokesman Jirayu Houngsub announced that the trip is at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who is the current chair of ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations). Thailand’s Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa will also be part of the delegation.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet is expected to attend the talks, as Malaysia has also invited Cambodian representatives. Jirayu emphasized that Thailand will not compromise on matters of its sovereignty.
