Tensions between the U.S. and Iran have reached a critical point following President Donald Trump’s deployment of a “massive armada,” led by the USS Abraham Lincoln, in response to Iran’s internal unrest. As the Trump administration hosts Israeli and Saudi officials to discuss potential military strikes, Iran has countered by inducting 1,000 strategic combat drones into its military.
While the U.S. signals that “help is on its way” for Iranian protesters, regional neighbors have urged restraint, refusing to allow their territories to be used for military action. Diplomatic efforts are currently centered in Ankara, where Iranian and Turkish officials are meeting today to discuss de-escalation and regional stability.
